Stand Firm in the Faith
Presented by Most Rev. Samuel J. Aquila, Archbishop of Denver
"To enter the door of faith" says Pope Benedict XVI "is to set forth on the journey of a lifetime." To stand firm in faith, amidst a world experiencing a crisis of faith and morality, is to live according to the Gospel, and to present the radical vision of that life to the world. To stand firm in faith is to boldly proclaim a New Evangelization- to be salt and light to a world standing in darkness. To stand firm in faith is to pursue greatness in the face of mediocrity, and to pursue goodness in the face of ambiguity and evil. To stand firm in faith is to bring to the world creative and faithful approaches to living as Jesus commanded. To stand firm in faith is to live truth, beauty, and goodness-- and to live it with love.

Setting the whole world on fire!
Presented by Sherry Weddell, Co-founder of the St. Catherine of Siena Institute
A introduction to discerning charisms or spiritual gifts: ways that all the baptized are supernaturally empowered by God to be channels of God's love, truth, beauty, wisdom, and provision for others. Discerning and exercising our charisms are essential to the new evangelization as well to discerning and answering God's call for our individual lives.
Evangelization and media: rethinking the Catholic sub-culture
Presented by Barbara Nicolosi
The hard truth is most Catholic efforts in media fail utterly as evangelization among the unchurched, even if they do perform acceptably as catechesis among the faithful. Why are our media efforts so ineffective beyond our Church doors? How can we break out of the Catholic bubble and be heard in the broader culture?
Catholic identity and evangelization
Presented by JD Flynn, Chancellor, Archdiocese of Denver
Who is a Catholic is a confusing topic these days. What the Church teaches about Catholic identity is key to understanding how we can evangelize in the modern world.
To teach as God does: rediscovering the divine pedagogy in the Catechism of the Catholic Church
Presented by Sean Innerst, Professor at St. John Vianney Theological Seminary
The Catechism has been rightly called a disclosure of the “symphony of faith.” That suggests the questions: “If the faith it discloses is like a symphony, who is the arranger of that symphony, who the conductor?” In this talk we will consider not so much the content but the arrangement of the Catechism and how its particular way of blending the melodies, harmonies and rhythms of our faith help us to us to hear its music better, and – perhaps most importantly – to come to know better the God, who not only composed the symphony of faith, but who also arranges and conducts it for us.

Getting the Council: the Catechism as interpreter
Presented by Sean Innerst, Professor at St. John Vianney Theological Seminary
In Porta Fidei Pope Benedict reminds us that the "great grace" of Vatican Council II depends upon whether "we interpret and implement it guided by a right hermeneutic," or method of interpretation. This talk will consider what's at stake in a wrong interpretation and suggest that we have the definitive interpretation in the Catechism of the Catholic Church, which has rightly been called "the catechism of the Council."

The role of the beautiful in evangelization

Catholic identity and evangelization
Presented by JD Flynn, Chancellor, Archdiocese of Denver

Praying with the Catechism of the catholic church – in a Marian mode
Presented by Sean Innerst, Professor at St. John Vianney Theological Seminary
“Let us entrust this time of grace to the Mother of God, proclaimed ‘blessed because she believed’ (Lk 1:45).” With these words Pope Benedict XVI encourages us to take Mary, the woman of faith, as our model in the Year of Faith. To imitate Mary’s faith, we need to imitate her prayer. In this presentation, the fundamentally Marian character the Catechism’s catechesis on prayer will be explored and ideas given about how to pray in the way that Mary did, so that we, too, might be blessed for believing.
